Snowy Range Perseid Meteor Shower by David Kingham

Highly Commended, Earth and Space category

Like fireworks on a celestial scale, the Perseid meteor shower seems to burst out of the night sky, thanks to a lack of light pollution at the Medicine Bow National Forest in Snowy Range, Wyoming, where the photo was captured. The picture combines 23 still images to visualise the movement of the meteors across the sky.
